Emerging Technology #2 - Jing

The second emerging technology I explored was jing. Jing is a computer software program used to share images or movies with others on the Internet. Jing users have the ability to create an image from an item that appears on their desktop, such as a photograph, a graph created in a spreadsheet program or a map. Jing also allows users to make animations or videos. This program is useful for instructing a series of steps to others. The cost of the program is free if you download the basic version. After trying this program out it eliminated phone and email time. When I tried out jing I took a snapshot of myself and shared it to my aunt on face book, because she hasn’t seen me in forever. I think this could be good for keeping in touch with family also. Some Bad things about jing would be sending uncalled pictures to people, and also same thing goes for videos . I think jing could be helpful because you can basically share anything you would like. The way I would use this in my classroom would be by making short videos of how to do certain lesson plans, and then send those videos to children that are struggling in those subjects. Here’s a link to jing so you can get started. http://www.techsmith.com/jing/

Emerging Technology-Facebook

The emerging technology that I’m going to be exploring is face book. Facebook is a social networking service and website that has been around since 2004. As of today there are over millions and millions of users. Users may create a personal profile, and add other users as friends, and exchange messages, including notifications when they update their profile. Users can make or join groups by workplace, or school and etc. Facebook was first founded by a couple of Harvard students, which eventually expanded to other colleges. A couple of years ago, Facebook was known as the most used social networking in the world. Facebook is basically where you can post status's, videos, photos, and etc. I enjoy Facebook alot ,because you can socialize with your family and friends. The first time i heard of Facebook I didn’t care so much about it. Then my friend Brooks showed me how to use it, then I started using it a lot more. First I just started out with my basic information about me ,and a status. I now have photos, videos, and over 800 friends .Facebook is very user-friendly and helpful. For example, if you missed class, you can chat with a friend from class and ask him or her what we did that day. To this day I use Facebook all the time. I use Facebook to contact family or friends I haven’t seen in awhile. Well first time setting up i would say its kind of difficult but gradually gets easy to get use to. Here’s a link to Facebook, so you can start contacting your family and friends that you haven’t seen in forever: http://www.facebook.com/

First Time Blogging

This is my first time creating a blog. I have never heard of blogging before until this class.I thought it was going to be difficult to use, but it's actually really easy to get use to.I think Blogging is simliar to facebook, myspace, and etc, because after reading peoples blogs it has alot to do with them talking about there life , which I enjoy. Its a good way to meet people. I'm going to enjoy adding on to this blog as this class proceeds.
